Enrollment Process

Dear Potential Scholar,

I am pleased that you are interested in joining our accelerated and gifted program. Although we are new, we are eagerly excited about the upcoming school year. The education of our scholars is incredibly important. It is our aim to create a fun, friendly, rewarding, and exceptional virtual learning experience for our scholars. Our combined Foundational Scholars course for grades Jr. Kindergarten through 1st grade focuses on building a strong foundation in reading, mathematics, and writing. Additional studies include science, social studies, gifted test prep, brain games, vocabulary, financial literacy, career development, self-esteem, bible stories, and clubs such as chess, spelling bee, puzzles, and reading.

Our program will begin on August 31, 2020, through June 16, 2021. There will be live instruction Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm Pacific Standard Time. We have a set schedule for when each subject and activity will take place. In addition, each scholar will receive twenty minutes of individual instruction time while the other scholars are working on another assignment or activity. The schedule will change when we have guest speakers, special activities and workshops, or emergencies. While live instruction and individual sessions will teach the concepts, it is key that all scholars complete the additional required assignments, projects, learning apps, and fieldwork in order for mastery to be achieved.

There is a monthly tuition fee of $500 per month for each scholar and an annual registration and materials fee of $150 (non-refundable). Tuition for the following month can be paid five days before the 1st but no later than the 5th of the month. Each scholar is required to have a working laptop or desktop computer with a video camera and high-speed internet. A learning tablet with all the learning apps will be supplied to all scholars along with a branded polo shirt to be worn Monday-Thursday and a t-shirt to be worn on Fridays; this will serve as the scholars school uniform. Scholars are allowed to choose the type of bottoms they wear during instruction but remember to please keep it school-age appropriate. There may be days, presentation days for example, where the students full body will need to be seen by our instructors. On presentation days, scholars will be required to wear uniform bottoms in the school’s colors, which are navy, maroon/burgundy, and gray. Khaki bottoms will be allowed as well.

Potential scholars must complete an application in order to receive an invitation for an assessment interview. Potential scholars should be dressed comfortably, well-rested, and fed. Parents are welcomed to remain in the room during the assessment interview but are discouraged from communicating with their child unless it’s an emergency. This allows the director to redirect the potential scholar, get to know them, and see how they will manage being online without their parents. We will be assessing what they already know using a readiness kindergarten assessment. Potential scholars will be notified within 48 hours of their acceptance or denial as well as the next step in the enrollment process.

Should your child be accepted into the program, together we will create an individual learning path based on their strengths. Should your child be denied into the program, you will be given a list of tasks your child must master in order to be accepted into the program. Due to the acceleration of the program, potential scholars should be able to:

  • recognize all 26 letters
  • know the letter sounds for all 26 letters (although we will do a quick review in September)
  • write all 26 letters
  • be able to follow directions exactly as given
  • count from 1-30
  • write and spell their name
  • know all the basic colors and shapes.

The program is designed for each scholar to complete and master all concepts within 2-3 years depending on the age and level when they start, then take the gifted test for the program they are trying to get accepted into. Potential scholars who are aware of the gifted and talented program they plan to apply to should note that on their scholar profile for Bright Scholars University when accepted so that your child is preparing for the appropriate test. We have access to a variety of exams for gifted and talented programs nationwide.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Jasmine Gladney before your schedule assessment interview.

Sincerely,

Jasmine Gladney

Little Learners Informational Letter

Dear Potential Little Scholar,

I am pleased that you are interested in joining one of our early learning programs. Although we are new, we are eagerly excited about the upcoming school year. The education of our little scholars is incredibly important as we know it sets the foundation for all future learning. We understand that virtual learning cannot replace traditional early learning experiences, however, with hard work and creativity, it is our aim to create a fun, friendly, rewarding, and exceptional virtual learning experience for our little scholars. We offer three early learning programs and they each focus on mastering concepts necessary for reading, mathematics, and writing. We aim to teach the alphabet, phonics, numbers, basic math concepts, colors, 2D and 3D shapes, basic sight words, and an introduction to writing. Additional studies include science, social studies, gifted test prep, and arts n crafts.

Our program will begin on August 31, 2020, through June 16, 2021. There will be live instruction Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm Pacific Standard Time for preschoolers, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm Pacific Standard Time for Jr. Kindergarteners, and Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 2:00pm to 3:00 pm Pacific Standard Time for Kindergarteners. We have a set schedule for when each subject and activity will take place, however, because it is a mastery based program, lesson plans will alter each week based on the level of the little scholars retention of previously mastered content. In addition, each little scholar will have access to a variety of learning apps they can choose from to begin and maintain their individual learning path for the school year. The schedule will change when we have guest speakers, special activities and workshops, or emergencies. While live instruction and individual learning paths will teach the concepts, it is key that all little scholars complete the additional required assignments, projects, learning apps, and fieldwork in order for mastery to be achieved.

There is a monthly tuition fee of $200 per month for each preschool scholar, $300 per month for each Jr. Kindergarten scholar, and $350 for each Kindergarten scholar and an annual registration and materials fee of $75 (non-refundable) for all little scholars. Tuition for the following month can be paid five days before the 1st but no later than the 5th of the month. Each little scholar is required to have a working laptop, desktop computer, or tablet/iPad with a video camera and high-speed internet. A list of the learning apps with usernames and passwords will be supplied to all little scholars along with a school logo t-shirt to be worn on their scheduled class days; this will serve as the little scholars school uniform. Certain activities may require little scholars to be fully seen so please be advised and make sure they wear proper bottoms. The school’s colors are navy, maroon/burgundy, and gray.

Potential little scholars must complete an application of interest along with their registration fee to be enrolled in the program. Once application and fees are paid, a contract and the remaining paperwork will be sent via email and once returned, the first month’s tuition will be due. Little scholars will then receive a welcome packet in the mail with everything they need for the school year. Throughout the school year, little scholars will receive packages of different learning materials, awards, prizes, and helpful resources. Unlike our Foundations Class for Jr. Kindergarten through 1st grade accelerated gifted program, no prior school is required, no assessment interview is required, all students are eligible and once the class fills, registration will be closed and we will start a waitlist.

If you are unsure what program to enroll your child, I will be offering 15-30 minute assessments to help determine which class is right for your child. As we move along in the program, I will move little scholars around if necessary to make sure they are getting the best education at the appropriate skill level for mastery. Registration opens August 10, 2020 and will remain open until all spots are filled. Each class will only hold 10 little scholars.
